Omega-3 Balance & Test-Based Nutrition
A Test-Based Approach to Nutrition and Recovery
At Hamilton Physiotherapy, I have always believed that healing is about much more than treating an injury.
Recovery is influenced by many factors, including movement, sleep, stress, nutrition, cardiovascular health and the body's ability to regulate inflammation. Whilst physiotherapy remains at the heart of what I do, I am always looking for ways to better understand the factors that may influence a person's recovery and long-term wellbeing.
That is why I have chosen to offer omega-3 testing and Zinzino BalanceOil as an optional addition to my physiotherapy service.

Why Omega-3 & Essential Fatty Acids Matter
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that our bodies cannot produce on their own.
Modern Western diets often contain significantly more omega-6 (pro-inflammatory)than omega-3 (anti-inflammatory ) fats. Both are important, but maintaining a healthy balance between them supports normal body function.
The essential fatty acids in Balance oil are
• EPA - eicosapentaenoic acid
• DHA – docosahexaenoic acid
Adequate intake of EPA and DHA, when consumed at the levels shown below as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle, is officially recognised as contributing to:
• Normal function of the heart (250mg EPA and DHA daily)
• Maintenance of normal brain function (250mg DHA daily)
• Maintenance of normal vision (250mg DHA daily)
• Normal blood pressure and normal blood triglyceride levels (3g EPA and DHA daily)
These are the authorised EU/UK health claims for EPA and DHA. Omega-3 also plays a role in healthy cell membrane function, though this is my own professional observation rather than an authorised claim.
For many people, particularly those who eat little oily fish, achieving optimal omega-3 intake through diet alone can be challenging.
Omega-6:3 ratio is measured as the ratio between the key “plant-derived” omega-6 fatty acid Arachidonic acid (AA) and its omega-3 equivalent: the “marine-based” EPA :AA / EPA. This ratio is an approximate expression for the distribution of pro-inflammatory against anti-inflammatory potential in your diet. The blood Omega-6 (AA) should preferably be no more than three times higher than the Omega-3 in adults (3:1) and five times higher in children (5:1).
Why Am I Offering This?
Over the past ten years, I have worked with many people living with persistent pain, chronic conditions and the challenges of perimenopause.
One thing has become increasingly clear: healing is individual.
Two people with the same diagnosis can recover very differently depending on their lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, stress levels, activity levels and overall health.
Whilst physiotherapy helps optimise movement, reduce pain and restore function, it is only one part of the bigger picture.
Omega-3 testing provides another piece of information that may help us have meaningful conversations about your overall health and lifestyle.
It is not intended to diagnose disease or replace medical advice, and BalanceOil is a food supplement, not a medicine — it is not intended to treat, cure or prevent any condition. It is offered to support a more personalised approach to your wellbeing, alongside your physiotherapy care.

Why Omega-3 & Essential Fatty Acids Matter
Since taking the Balance oil myself I have noticed a definite improvement in my overall well being namely my skin and brain fog. Things I like about about Zinzino Balance oil are:
• It is tailored to you – the amount you take is based on your body weight
• testing as a baseline and follow up test after 120days using a simple blood spot test.
• The quality of the of the oil, third party testing and IFOS certification (see info sheet for more detail)
• A marine omega-3 supplement combined with extra virgin olive oil and vitamin D. A Vegan oil is also available
The aim is not simply to take a supplement, but to understand whether your diet is providing the balance your body needs.
Don’t take it from me why not just have a read of this information sheet, to find out more about Zinzino
Please note: I am an independent Zinzino Partner. This means I earn commission on Balance Test and BalanceOil sales made through my practice. I only offer this service because I use and value it myself, and it is entirely optional — it will never affect the physiotherapy care you receive.
